The Founder
I’m Rio, the founder of Tranquil Tails - an experienced, knowledgeable, and deeply compassionate pet carer dedicated to ensuring every animal in my care feels safe, happy, and understood.
Originally from Wrexham, I moved to Liverpool to study Animal Behaviour at Liverpool John Moores University, graduating in 2016. After several years working in professional pet care, I decided to deepen my knowledge and skills further by pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Animal Behaviour with The University of Edinburgh, where I’m currently studying part-time and online.

This advanced training has shaped the way I work every single day - I am fully committed to positive, reward-based (R+) methods that prioritise kindness, trust, and emotional wellbeing. These scientifically supported approaches help build stronger bonds between animals and their humans, fostering confidence, calmness, and genuine happiness.
A typical day for me includes early-morning pet visits, followed by enrichment walks through some of Liverpool’s beautiful parks, before returning home to my own furry family.
My beloved Buster, a gentle Staffy mix, was my constant companion for 17 wonderful years. He passed peacefully in December 2024, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. Buster was my soul dog, my best friend, and the true inspiration behind everything I do. His love continues to guide my work and my purpose. ♡
At home now, I share my life with Sterling Archer, my spirited black cat, and Babou, a mischievous tabby rescue who joined our family recently. They fill my days with laughter, cuddles, and endless curiosity - a daily reminder of why I love what I do.

Every animal I care for is treated with the same respect, patience, and affection I gave (and still give) to my own. I feel truly grateful to have built a career surrounded by such incredible animals and their wonderful humans.
♡
